History

Vicsail launched into the Australian sailing fraternity in 1983, and has been going like the wind ever since Brendan and Joanne Hunt first established Vicsail in Geelong, Victoria, using their own yacht as their first listing. From these modest beginnings, the business has grown over the last 25 years to become the premier yacht broking network in Australasia.

We created Vicsail in 1983 as Jo and I arrived back from sailing the pacific. Australia was winning the Americas Cup, so it seemed like a logical way to keep sailing and avoid going back to teaching music and singing Jimmy Buffett songs in “Yachtie” bars”. It has been an exciting 25 year journey with boats, people, Chantier, Beneteau, Lagoon, Swan and CNB. We began importation for Lagoon in 1998, making us one of the older dealers in the world, which we are very proud of.  Lagoon epitomise the sailing and cruising dream with family and friends. I love the design innovation, the lateral thinking and ultimately how easy they are to sail. Outside of catamarans my interests are making music, surfing and skiing. My passion is the rebuilding and sailing of our family racing yacht Ventura, built in 1893.

I have been involved with Vicsail since 1983 from an administrative perspective. My passion and enjoyment for Lagoon catamarans is driven by their unique styling and sailing comfort on all waters from Sydney Harbour, the Great Barrier Reef to the Mediterranean. My involvement with Vicsail  has allowed me to meet other sailing  agents from  around the world, furthering my passion for travel.

As CFO for Vicsail and Vicsail Multihull I manage the accounts, suppliers and other statutory matters and have the pleasure of dealing on a daily basis with the French on operational issues for Lagoon including dealing with the CNB factory on new builds, and the shipping and importation of Lagoons. This adds a very interesting element to my role. My visit to the Lagoon Factory in Bordeaux was a fascinating experience, to grasp the scale of the factory operations and to see each stage of the production line from the moulding of the fiberglass, to the skin fittings and internals, right through to final testings in the pond and preparation for transport. It is mind blowing and worth a visit! Outside of work you will find me on the Bronte coastal walk or snorkelling at Clovelly.

I manage the online marketing, print advertising and events for lagoon Catamarans and Vicsail Multihull.
Coming from a background with little to no experience in sailing or boats, Lagoon Catamarans have introduced me to a luminous new world. These luxurious, super stylish catamarans are such a pleasure to work with, I find the ambiance on a Lagoon Catamaran makes the events and gatherings we host on-board seem effortless. The premium range of catamarans we have for sale portray in such a way, that they basically sell themselves.

I work with our clients in finding the perfect boat for them.  My Favourite thing about Lagoon is the open spaces to relax with friends and enjoy a nice meal and a bottle of wine or two, (or three!)
When I’m not ‘’Lagoon-ing’’ I enjoy racing my 18 foot skiff on Sydney Harbour, racing the 100 footer Ragamuffin or in winter shooting down to Thredbo for a quick weekend on the slopes.
